Danica  Metcalfe
Title: Senior Information Systems Analyst
Company: Bruce Power

Asked what career advice she would provide today’s youth, Danica replies, “With motivation, hard work and a degree, job opportunities will be endless throughout your career.”

Throughout her life, Danica has been inspired by strong, influential women with admirable leadership skills. Not surprisingly, she has become one.

Danica’s position as Senior Information Systems Analyst entails defining and articulating IT’s strategic technology direction. Her job requires her to speak to leaders within Bruce Power to gain a detailed understanding of their work area, challenges and opportunities. She continually gets to learn about the changing business, as well as to influence and implement change within her department and her organization.

After completing post-secondary studies in Computer Security and Investigation, Danica pursued certification in The Open Group Architecture Framework for Enterprise Architecture (TOGAF), SCRUM Master and SCRUM Product Owner.

Danica enjoys being coached and mentored to further her personal and professional development. Joining WIN has enabled her to meet other successful women in the nuclear industry, providing her with the confidence to reach far beyond her comfort zone and to achieve new career goals. The support she receives from other women reassures her that she is not alone in meeting daily challenges.

Asked why she was inspired to join WIN, Danica replies, “WiN is a forum where strong professional women have the opportunity to interact and network to focus on continuous personal and professional development.”

Away from work, Danica volunteers as a director for the Saugeen Triathlon Club. When she takes time to relax, she enjoys spending time with family, running, cycling, and walking her dog.

As created January 2015.
