Women of WiN

Gail Clark

Gail Clark
Title: EI&C Maintainer
Company: NBPower

Gail  Clark has been with Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station for 9 years. Her main area of work is fixing and maintaining electronic instrumentation and control equipment in the plant. She finds her job contains a lot of variety while there is always different equipment to work on in various areas of the station.

Gail’s educational background consists of three years of Electrical Engineering at UNB (University of New Brunswick) and two years at NBCC (New Brunswick Community College) taking EIST (Electronic Instrumentation System Technology). One of the most rewarding projects that Gail has been involved with is being a mentor at the Skills Canada Networking Dinners for Young Women and also speaking at local high schools to the teachers and students about her chosen trade.

Gail recognizes her parents as being the most influential in her career choice. They gave her lots of inspiration and inspired her do anything she wanted. One of the motivational messages that Gail would like to pass on to young people would be “If you think you can do it, don’t let anybody stand in your way!”

WiN was introduced to Gail by co-workers who were already Chapter members and invited her to attend a meeting. She sees WiN has a great opportunity to outreach into the public especially the school system to promote the awareness of keeping your sciences and math. Gail likes the idea of sharing her story with young students and teachers about going into non-traditional careers. WiN has helped Gail to stretch by being introduced to public speaking. She would not have had this opportunity otherwise.
