Title: Nuclear Operator in Training
Company: Bruce Power

Amy Darnell currently works as a nuclear operator at Bruce Power. Her position entails being the “eyes and ears in the field of the control room staff.” As a nuclear operator, she holds qualifications to directly manipulate plant components under the direction of an Authorized Nuclear Operator. Amy really enjoys the people she works with. As well, she enjoys taking on new jobs and challenges.

Amy is a third class stationary engineer. She attended two years of college where she obtained a diploma in power engineering.

Amy says her dad has influenced her most when it comes to her career aspirations. For Amy, a big part of why she loves her job is because she constantly gets opportunities to learn more about the industry. Her advice to the youth is, “What ever you do, do it with a good attitude. You will be happy and go further.”

Other women in WiN inspired Amy to join. Amy enjoys WiN because she gets to meet and learn from other talented women. Amy claims WiN has also helped her to network and move forward with her career.

In her spare time, Amy enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Additionally she enjoys swimming and playing computer games.
