Women of WiN

Paula Meyer

Paula Meyer
Title: Engineer
Company: AMEC NSS

Paula Meyer is currently working at AMEC NSS as a Senior Engineer.  Paula works in Projects and Controls, a group focussed on project and program management.  Previously, Paula worked in stress analysis which aims to understand how a material or structure will act under a prescribed loading.

Paula’s most rewarding role to date has been as a Training Delivery Coordinator where she combined her communication skills with her love of people. Her specialties include project management and public speaking, so it is no surprise that what she loves most about her job is working with people.

Paula received her education at McMaster University, starting with a Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering and Society with a minor in Philosophy. She went on to obtain her masters and PhD in Mechanical Engineering, also from McMaster.

Paula says that the encouragement that she received from her family has influenced her to work harder towards her goals. With a substantial amount of training under her belt and a busy work schedule, Paula still makes time for her family and hobbies such as sailing racing dinghies and enjoying the outdoors.

Networking opportunities and great camaraderie is what attracted Paula towards WiN. She enjoys the fact that she can speak to professionals in the same field about future personal and career goals. Her advice for the youth of today would be to “make the most of opportunities and to be true to yourself.”
