Women of WiN

Helen Spencer

Helen Spencer
Title: Senior Advisor
Company: OPG

Helen Spencer is currently the Site Training Manager for Pickering. In this role, she resolves cross-functional issues for the plant. Her favourite part of her job is working with instructors, line management and students to produce high quality training. Her proudest moment came when she won a power within award at OPG.

Helen has received her Honours B.A. in Environmental Studies as well as her Master’s in Business and Economics. She credits her line supervisors at OPG for having a direct influence on her career development. Helen gets a sense of personal satisfaction when she works with her team to solve problems and implement continual improvements to the workplace. If she could give one word of advice to today’s youth she would say “Let’s go!  Believe in yourself and keep moving forward.”

Helen decided to join WiN after she realized  the common goals: nuclear outreach and development of women in nuclear. She enjoys helping other women in WiN, and admits it is the most satisfying part of being a member. She recognizes WiN for helping her land her first leadership role as Chairperson of WiN-Durham and continuing to help her set and pursue her personal and professional goals.
