Tammie Burgess
Title: FLM - IT Service Desk & Asset Management
Company: Bruce Power

As an Information Technology (IT) Business Relationship Manager at Bruce Power, Tammie acts as an advocate for the work group to initiate IT projects and assists clients with the IT processes. She works closely with her clients to understand what their work groups do in their day-to-day functions and identify areas where IT can help realize efficiencies. The relationship building aspect of her work is important to Tammie and it gives her a sense of satisfaction when business projects she introduces are endorsed and approved.

Tammie has a Business Accounting diploma, a Computer Programming diploma and is certified in Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundations and Service Strategy. She has also taken the LEAN Green Belt Certification and the Bruce Power Leadership Fundamentals Program.

Her parents have been an important influence for Tammie and she credits them for instilling in her a strong set of values and ethics that has served her well in life. The support and encouragement she has received from them has helped her to achieve her goals. Just as her parents encouraged her to work hard and never quit, Tammie has similar advice for young people: “set short term and long term goals and never lose sight of what you want. It will take work and perseverance but always face it with a positive attitude”.

It was the networking opportunities that initially brought Tammie to WiN, but her involvement has extended to volunteering within the organization. Tammie is involved with the GiRLS Science Club – a WiN Bruce initiative - and Skills Canada; “I take pride in volunteering my time and seeing young girls develop their skills, self confidence and self-esteem”.

When not at work Tammie enjoys spending time with her two sons and teaching them the same values and ethics she was taught as a child.  She also keeps active through organized sports, especially baseball, volleyball, and hockey.
